The Melone Lighthouse Nurse Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in August 2023 to administer a scholarship fund in honor of Debbie L. Melone, a dedicated nurse who passed away in March 2023 after 45 years of service. We are committed to supporting individuals pursuing advancement in their nursing careers through the allocation of scholarships for their MSN or doctorate-level education. The Fall 2025 academic term application process will commence in Spring 2025.

Please refer to the About Us section for more details about Debbie's story, our mission statement, and board of directors. Your support is greatly appreciated. Our goal for this year's campaign is to raise $20,000, which will enhance our scholarship program. Your donation will be vital in ensuring the success of future MSN and doctorate-level nurses.

The First Scholarship will be Awarded in 2025!

Our goal is to award the first scholarship in spring 2025 for the fall 2025 academic year to any nurse who wishes to advance their career in the nursing profession by pursuing an MSN or doctorate-level education. You will find eligibility requirements and an application in the Scholarship section.

Ocktoberfest – Vandergrift

24.09.28-Ocktoberfest.JPEG We are incredibly grateful to all who visited our booth at Vandergrift’s Oktoberfest on Saturday, September 28th, to learn more about the Melone Lighthouse Nurse Foundation. We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who generously donated.

GPC-ANPD Presentation

GPCANPD.png We thank the GREATER PITTSBURGH CHAPTER - ANPD (ASSOCIATION FOR NURSING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT) for allowing us to participate in their annual conference on May 3rd, 2024. We had the opportunity to present to the attendees and introduce them to the origin of the MLNF. Through their fundraising efforts at the event, they donated enough money to fund an entire scholarship in just one day! Many of the nurses present had worked with Debbie Melone. We were touched by how many nurses were inspired by Debbie, how many were influenced by her and have continued their nursing advancement, or were close friends with her. It was a very emotional day, and we were reminded how much we missed her.

The GPC-ANPD will be promoting the Melone Lighthouse Nurse Foundation on their website for the next year to attract more potential donations to the foundation. We are extremely grateful to this group for contacting us and inviting the MLNF to their annual conference!
